Quadratic Formula
The x-intercepts are also the solutions of the parabola. Quadratic formula can quickly turn a parabola from standard form into an intercept form and solve for the solutions.
Discriminant:
A parabola (2-degree polynomial) can have at most 2 distinct real number solutions. However, sometimes parabolas do not intersect the x-axis and thus have no solutions. Or, the vertex of the parabola may also be the only intersection point to the x-axis, and thus become the only solution to the parabola.
